Meet Director
Meet Director Role - This person oversees proper equipment set up and take down, and the overall smooth running of the meet, including proper timing and scoring functions. The Meet Referee, the starter in our case, may seek the assistance of the Meet Director during the meet to help resolve any problems or issues that may arise. The Meet Director also serves as the primary liaison with the lifeguard staff at the host pool.
Time line and duties: Show up at 5pm on the day of the meets, Tuesday and Thursday, and help the coaches and Woodside staff get set up. Volunteer and computer tables are brought down from upstairs. Extension cord needed for the computer table and fan by the computer table.
Ribbons are set out and organized by Level II and Novice. Along with the boxes containing the folders for the swimmers where the ribbons are placed.
Make sure there is paper and labels for the printer.
Assist Volunteer coordinator and Starter to get set up.
During the meet– Assist where needed. Handle any parental issues that arise along with the Starter. If a delay of the meet or cancellation occurs, it is the duty of the Starter, Meet Director and head coach to make that call.
End of the meet – Delegate and help get the pool cleaned up along with volunteers, coaches and staff. Meet director along with the Starter and Woodside Staff are the last people to leave the pool at night.
